PADDY O'CONNEL BBC R4 at the MUSEUM
A report from Tony King, Chairman Ipswich Transport Museum.
I received a call from the Secretary of NARTM (National Association of Road Transport Museums)last night offered me the chance to be involved in a BBC programme.
After numerous calls early this morning Ralph and I collected the BBC radio presenter Paddy O'Connell from the station at 1200 with the Bedford OB.
He was after a story on the plight of ruralbus services so we took him to Capel where he spoke to some locals and Viv Carter. We then pinched one of Viv's passengers from the local bus stop, drove her into town picking up another person on Hadleigh Road.
After that we took Paddy back to the station.
The programme which is a bit like Mark Murphy's morning slot is at 0900 on Sunday on BBC Radio4.
There was a trail for the programme immediately in front of the 6pm news on Radio4. Paddy said that he had been on a 1950s charabanc belonging to Ipswich Transport Museum touring the villages of Suffolk asking local people about their bus services.
I have told Ipswich Borough Council that we are bringing BBC national radio to Ipswich.
