Ipswich Engineering

Ipswich has a proud engineering history but most manufacturing has now ceased.
We plan to develop this section of the site to provide you with simple information on each major company. Such companies as Ransomes Sims & Jefferies, Ransomes & Rapier, Reavells and Cranes will all be featured.

Local author, historian (and Friend of ITM) Bob Malster has written two articles for the Ipswich Transport museum concerning Ransomes (which includes Rapiers) and E. R. & F. Turner. Links on the left

The Ipswich Transport Museum contains the 'Ipswich Engineering Collection', a series of displays of the engineering companies in Ipswich including a collection of cranes and engineering models.
